A little story about Nonna, Medico, or as you all know her as The Spicy Italian.
I am a 46-year-old God-fearing woman, wife, and proud mother of seven adult children. My husband is Osage Native American and I am Italian, Sicilian, and Irish — which inspired the name “The Spicy Italian.” We live on the Osage Reservation where I have been blessed to embrace and learn from my husband’s rich culture and traditions.
My journey into natural healing began during one of the most difficult seasons of our lives. After months of unexplained illness and extreme weight loss, my husband was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer. His tumor was the size of a softball and his colon was completely obstructed. After emergency surgeries, he began chemotherapy treatments that quickly left him dangerously ill and unable to function.
Trusting our instincts, my husband chose to stop chemotherapy after the second round. That moment led me to begin researching natural healing, nutrition, herbs, and the root causes of disease. I completely transformed our home — removing processed foods, refined sugars, and chemicals while replacing them with organic foods, clean water, herbs, and natural supplements.
Months later we sought a second opinion at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. After extensive testing, the oncologist confirmed something incredible — there were no signs of cancer. He also explained the treatments previously prescribed had been dangerously inappropriate. The lifestyle and dietary changes we made had supported my husband’s healing.
That experience ignited a calling in me to help others.
After later experiencing the loss of my grandfather and father, I decided to dedicate my life to understanding health and saving lives. I became an EMT and Paramedic, serving on a 911 ambulance for eight years and also working in the film industry as a set medic caring for actors, crew, and production staff.
Still feeling called to do more, I continued my education and became a Certified Naturopathic Practitioner and Certified Herbalist. I am now completing my studies as a Certified Traditional Naturopathic Doctor.
My mission is to open a natural healing and wellness clinic and create a 501(c)(3) nonprofit so that everyone — especially low-income families — can access naturopathic care regardless of financial circumstances.
I believe true health comes from caring for the Mind, Body, and Soul — the healing trinity. Our bodies were designed to heal when given the right tools, environment, and nourishment. Through education, herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle changes, my goal is to help others rediscover the powerful healing that nature provides.
Nature, faith, and knowledge have changed my family’s life — and I hope to help others experience that same healing.
God Bless.
